Think of the Children

By Jessica Hart

Introducing Americana heartland-rocker John Calvin’s latest single, “I Can Make Your Heart Mine.” Overflowing with soft guitars, heartfelt lyrics, and a compelling story to unfold, this track captures the essence of childhood trauma and the pain that can linger on.

It’s important to see things from a child’s perspective,” says Calvin. “I use empathy to help my children grow. Your wins will be my wins. Your losses are my losses. You’re worthy of that. We make mistakes and that’s okay. Be accepting of what you can’t control. Listening to the case they’re making will get you 90% there. If you did your job right, your kid will be able to walk away as a mostly unscathed adult.
— John Calvin

John Calvin is also planning to release his LP “Greener Fields & Fairer Seas” (out Jan. 24). The poetic writing full of orchestral strings and gospel vocals are there to remind us to pay attention to what really matters in our lives. The album digs into the trauma involved during the 2020 Covid pandemic, and the hope involved while building a family and trying to be a good father. John Calvin talks about how the people and love in his life is what inspires him to become a better person.
