“Mirror Mirror” On the Wall

By Jessica Hart

Australian Punk Trio, All Hope Remains, just dropped a fresh single along with a music video. Hailing from Victoria, Australia, this trio has been rocking out for the past five years, delivering high-energy punk melodies that keep fans headbanging and craving more. Comprised of Mark Gilmore, Geoff Stirling, and Tony Maloney, who all come from originated from other bands, All Hope Remains has successfully blended their styles to create infectious punk anthems that make you want to shout along. With two EPs, "Hindsight" and "Feel The Fire", and a full-length album, "A Silent War", under their belt, All Hope Remains is ready to set the punk scene on fire once again with this latest release, “Mirror Mirror.”

Their new song, “Mirror Mirror”, is “... an anthem of personal conflict experienced upon reflection of one’s own image… The mirror’s view, frozen in time; a portrait of pain.” It’s such a relevant theme as we’ve all been in that space where maybe our own reflection didn’t match what we saw in our minds. Or we couldn’t believe the things we’ve done. Or the feelings that we are just a burden to others, that we will never be good enough, the emotional turmoil that comes along with being human.

Vocalist/Bassist, Mark Gilmore says about the track, “Mirror Mirror was inspired by a phase of self loathing in the wake of a bender. The song was a productive way of making sense of internal conflict. Chaotic thoughts that consume can still have a positive outcome.”

As a musician and addict, I couldn’t agree more. I also have some songs about my experience that were worked on after a bender.

But sometimes a phoenix can rise from the ashes.
