The Life of a Creative
By Jessica Hart
Maintaining a life as a creative is hard. Point blank. Trying to find a balance between family, friends, marketing, networking and creating… all while paying your bills. Very few even get lucky enough to get the chance to maintain this balancing act.
So it can be tough to find which advice might be helpful for you. So many books, podcasts, coaches and courses saying this is what you have to do to make it. You don’t know who you can trust.
One thing I always recommend is to look into the person offering the advice. What do they do for work, education? Are they offering music advice, where’s their music? Who have they worked with? What gives this person’s advice credence.
That’s why today, I want to let everyone know about a great podcast to follow if you are an indie musician looking to hear from someone who does have mild success, is able to pay his bills, and also focuses on the family life aspect of being a creative.
”Breathe, Be Happy: A Podcast by Tep No” is a great resource, full of short motivational episodes that talk about not only what has worked for Tep No’s own musical career, but the daily and yearly challenges of trying to “make it” as an indie musician, a father, a husband and a friend.
He talks about his personal experiences with touring and songwriting, funny anecdotes, and motivational advice about the real work that goes into being great at your craft.
If you’ve been looking for a new podcast to listen too, this is one I highly recommend to every indie musician! There’s more to just making music, than just the music.
